The Name Was Barry … John Barry

Had I known sooner about the death of John Barry on January 31, I probably would have blogged about it then. However, somehow I missed the New York Times article about it.

I would like to note that it saddened me to hear about the demise of the person who created this particular classic musical number.

And, as I said, I would have blogged about it sooner had I not learned about it rather after the fact while reading this blog: Nik Nak’s Old Peculiar, which is an interesting source of trivia, combined with the occasional commentary on movies, TV shows, politics and current events.

It also features video clips, including the one shown here.

RIP, John Barry.

They certasinly don’t make composers like that anymore, do they … ?

And I say that in the belief that “Diamonds Are Forever” is one of the best ‘Scorned woman’ type songs, ever written: there’s no mention of the man who’s hurt her: but you still feel every last inch of the pain he’s caused her.

Just as a final thought, Debs, I’d also like to thank you for the mention.

And I’d just like to add how much I thoroughly enjoy your blog. Trivia, politics, commentary and all. But especially all the Doctor Who references, being that I’m such a HUGE fan of the show.

Whatever feels comfier to you, Debbi, although I’ll be honest, I prefer Paul.

And I’ll be adding more Dr Who posts as and when the new series starts:and probably a few more more Merlin and Outcasts ones, as and when.

Oh, and feel free to have a try at the Teaser, the next time you see one float past: we can’t let Trevor, Kaiju and Mr S have ALL the kudos, now, can we … ?
