Being one of many people who prefer milder climates to those that are more extreme, I say Beth Rubin has the right idea in calling for a ban on winter. In fact, Beth goes so far as to make the point that winter is unconstitutional. I, for one, won’t argue with her logic.
And neither will Lucy. Apparently.
Anyway, I had to trek into DC from Maryland on Wednesday morning in the rain to talk at the Library of Congress about self-publishing and ebooks (a talk that went very well, as you can read here), then had to trek right back out (by Metro — thank God) where by the time I arrived the rain was fast turning into sleet which was fast turning into snow which was fast turning into piles of sh*t all over the place, which was creating the mess written about in this article.
Then, add to that the fact that DC is one of the worst places in the country to commute and you can see why I prefer to work at home.
On top of all that, I’d just like to add that winter sucks in general. That is all.

Your blog took me back several years to when I was commuting to D.C. from the Maryland suburbs. It was a nightmare then! You have my sympathy. We should join forces and rally support for our cause! Life is too short to spend it imprisoned in a car several hours a day.
Like the I HATE SNOW tee-shirt. Where can I get one?
BAN WINTER!
The tee-shirt isn’t mine, but courtesy of Google Image search, actually.
I agree. Life is too short to spend commuting it away. This is why I went into writing for a living — or at least a close approximation of one. lol
And I’ll be happy to sign a petition to ban winter. Bring it on!
