But You Don’t Look Sick
November 7, 2007
There are many of us out there who suffer from disabilities and chronic illnesses that no one else can see. I know–I have dystonia, which is constantly debilitating and painful, but not so debilitating that most people notice.
For all of you in similar situations, I wanted to let you know about “National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week.” It was observed back in September, but it’s never too late to appreciate what this Web site has to offer or to promote awareness of the problem.

Hi Debbi,
I’ve got laryngeal dystonia ….spasmodic dysphonia….
Just found the link to your blog by way of Healing Monologues.
Thanks for the blog and I’ll be back to visit. Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Sara,
Thanks for writing. I try to blog as much as I can on the topic of dystonia, as so few people know what it is. I have post-stroke focal dystonia in my left hand and foot.
I stumbled across Healing Monologues while seeking info on this disorder and thought it was a pretty cool site. If you know of any other good resources for people with dystonia, feel free to share.
And happy Thanksgiving to you, as well!
Debbi

There are many illnesses that are covered on our website and our message boards. We have a couple of members with Dystonia Why not come and connect to people that know what you are going through?
Thanks for spreading awareness of the invisible illnesses Week.
